The Nordic forest – Our Pride And Our Future

At Persson Innovation, the Nordic forests is more than just a raw material – it’s part of who we are. It provides the foundation for our products, fuels our innovation, and shapes our commitment to sustainability. Keeping our production in Sweden is a conscious decision. It allows us to stay close to our resources, support local communities, and contribute to responsible forestry. Sweden and the Nordics’ forests are among the most sustainably managed in the world, and we’re proud to be part of that ecosystem.

Strength in nature

The Nordic climate causes trees to grow slowly, which results in dense, strong fibers – a key advantage for packaging solutions that need to be both lightweight and durable. We primarily use spruce and birch in our handles, thanks to their strength and availability. But we see the forest as a whole system, where every tree species and terrain type plays a role in maintaining biodiversity and long-term sustainability.

Innovation is at the core of what we do. We’re constantly working to reduce material use while improving product performance. By testing new combinations of components and refining our designs, we’re developing handles that are stronger and more resource-efficient. It’s a long-term effort, but one that delivers real results – for our customers and for the planet. As Dennis D’Mello, our Director of Global Sales, says:

“At Persson Innovation, we’re constantly challenging ourselves to do more with less. The Nordic forest gives us access to incredibly strong fibers, and we’re using that advantage to rethink how packaging handles are made. Our goal is to reduce material usage while improving performance – not just for the sake of innovation, but because we believe it’s the right thing to do. We’re seeing great results, and it’s exciting to know that our work is contributing to a more sustainable future.”

We’re also seeing a global shift toward fiber-based materials. New regulations and growing consumer awareness are accelerating the move toward more sustainable packaging. Sweden is leading the way, but there’s still a lot of potential to influence change worldwide. By showing what’s possible with forest-based materials, we hope to inspire others to follow.

Using the forest also means taking responsibility for its future. Replanting and forest stewardship are essential to ensure that future generations can benefit from the same resources we do today. That’s why we support forestry practices that replace every harvested tree and protect biodiversity.

At Persson Innovation, we believe in innovation rooted in nature. The Nordic forest is our pride – and our future. By sharing our knowledge and passion, we hope to inspire others to recognize the value of sustainable, locally sourced materials.
